Why older adults cruise - Fun, Fun, Fun

It's not just girls who want to have fun. Older adults do too! Cruises offer so many different activities that lead to fun for all sorts of personalities!

Many people think it's the young passengers who stay up dancing until all hours of the night on a cruise ship. In my life it's been the opposite. Ever since we took cruises in my 30's, my husband and would I turn in early and my dad would bid us goodnight and head off to listen to some music or do a little dancing. The same happens now when my mom cruises with us. She hits the late shows or goes to the dance parties and tells us all about it the next day.

I love that the assumptions about senior travelers are left there, in peoples imaginations, and are not factual. I've heard reports from my parents (since I don't know for myself as I'm already being gently rocked to sleep in my bed) that many of their fellow late night celebrators are other older adults. There is no natural law that says you need to be an early bird because you are in your 80s!

I personally love Disney cruise line. I have many joyful memories of my dad having just as much fun as my daughter on those sailings! As you can see from the picture to the right, he is a huge fan of Tinkerbell. We still tease him about maybe being too big of a fan of her, with that glint in his eye. Dressing up for Halloween was so much fun, and he really got into his Eeyore role, as you can also see.

There is so much to enjoy on a cruise, from the onboard activities to the fun adventures you can book in port. Assuming that due to someone's age they may not enjoy all of the energy of a big cruise ship may be missing the target a bit. Just like I was an early to bed girl in my youth, some older adults love the midnight hours. The beauty of a cruise is...there's something for every preference.

There is just so much to do and see in the world! If you are ready to experiment with a cruise line and find out which type of fun you will find, please give me an opportunity to work with you on that discovery. I can even come along as a supportive companion if that will hep make it happen, and promise I'll make the effort to stay up and go dancing if you'd like...especially if it's a silent disco!
